Riverton, Utah — Wednesday afternoon — A woman has died after she was shot in the neck by her son during a violent incident that prompted a large-scale police response and a shelter-in-place order in Riverton.

According to early information from authorities, the shooting occurred Wednesday afternoon in a residential area near 12015 South 1840 West, where emergency services were later dispatched following reports of a domestic-related shooting.
